Nikkei falls on profit taking
Capital Market The Japan share market closed marginally lower on Monday, 19 December 2016, snapping a nine-day winning streak, as investors elected to book profit on caution ahead of the Bank of Japan's monetary policy assessment on Tuesday and a scheduled speech from U.S. Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen later Monday. Total 23 out of 33 TSE industry category on the main section lost ground, with Marine Transportation, Iron & Steel, Securities & Commodities Futures, Nonferrous Metals, and Banks issues being major losers. On the upside, Pharmaceutical, Electric Power & Gas, and Foods issues were notable gainers. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.05%, or 9.55 points. The broader Topix index of all first-section shares declined 0.1%, or 1.61 points, to finish at 1,549.06.
