Railway passenger traffic declined 0.8% in April-December 2013
The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis increased 13.3% to Rs 101665.95 crore in April-December 2013, compared to Rs 89701.14 crore during the same period last year.The total goods revenue moved up 10.9% from Rs 62016.30 crore in April-December 2012 to Rs 68782.53 crore in April-December 2013.
The total passenger revenue stood at Rs 27646.10 crore in April-December 2013 compared to Rs 23024.26 crore in the same period last year, registering an increase of 20.07%.
The approximate revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 2862.22 crore during April-December 2013, compared to Rs 2345.23 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 22.04%.
The total approximate numbers of passengers booked were 6359.77 million in April-December 2013, compared to 6413.89 million during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 0.84%.
