Torrent Power leads gainers in 'A' group

Federal Bank, Prestige Estates Projects, Essar Oil and Bosch are among the other gainers.

Power utility Torrent Power jumped 7.59% to Rs 86.50. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group.

Federal Bank galloped 6.05% to Rs 91.15 after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday, 21 March 2014 notified that the restrictions placed on the purchase of shares of Federal Bank have been withdrawn with immediate effect. Equity shares of Federal Bank can now be purchased through primary market and stock exchanges, the RBI said. FII holding was 42.27% of the total foreign holding of 49.62% in Federal Bank (as per the shareholding pattern as on 31 December 2013). The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Real estate developer Prestige Estates Projects spurted 2.65% to Rs 159. The stock was third biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Private sector crude oil refiner Essar Oil climbed 2.55% to Rs 50.30. The stock was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Auto parts maker Bosch rose 2.33% to Rs 10,301. The stock was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
