Turnover in F&O segment rises

State Bank of India, Muthoot Finance and Bharti Airtel most active futures contracts.

The Nifty February 2020 futures were at 12,020.05, a premium of 27.55 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,992.50 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 14.89 lakh crore compared with Rs 10.76 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index lost 53.30 points or 0.44% to 11,992.50.

The NSE's India VIX up 0.19% at 14.4425. A rise in volatility indicates instability in benchmark index.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 27 February 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 32.03 lakh at the 12,200 strike price. Maximum put OI of 34.43 lakh contracts was seen at 12,000 strike price. The option chain suggests that the Nifty will trade between 12,000 to 12,200 levels in February.

State Bank of India, Muthoot Finance and Bharti Airtel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

State Bank of India February 2020 futures were at 318.80, compared with spot closing price of 318.05. Muthoot Finance February 2020 futures were at 867.05 compared with spot closing price of 863.90. Bharti Airtel February 2020 futures were at 550.50, compared with spot closing price of 549.

The February 2020 F&O contracts expire on Thursday, 27 February 2020.
