Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops

Nifty January 2017 futures at premium

The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8,145.70, a small premium of 6.25 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,139.45 in the cash market. The January 2017 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,181, a premium of 41.55 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment fell to Rs 2.25 lakh crore from Rs 6.67 lakh crore registered on Thursday, 15 December 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 14.15 points or 0.17% to settle at 8,139.45, its lowest closing level since 7 December 2016.

Vedanta, Axis Bank, Biocon, Tata Motors and Aurobindo Pharma were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Vedanta December 2016 futures traded at 231.10, at a premium compared with spot closing of 230.25. Axis Bank December 2016 futures traded at 472.15, at a premium over spot closing of 471.30. Biocon December 2016 futures traded at 975.30, at a discount compared with spot closing of 980.95.

Tata Motors December 2016 futures traded at 471.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 471.70. Aurobindo Pharma December 2016 futures traded at 692.90, at a premium compared with spot closing of 690.

The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
