Nifty October 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

The October 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8802.35, premium of 33.20 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8769.15 in the cash market. The Nifty November 2016 futures traded at 8844.95, a premium of 75.80 points compared with the spot closing for the index.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 3.24 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 2.80 lakh crore registered yesterday, 3 October 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty rose 31.05 points or 0.36% to settle at 8,769.15, its highest closing level since 23 September 2016.

State Bank of India, Tata Steel, Punjab National Bank, Vedanta and Canara Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. State Bank of India October 2016 futures traded at 262.75, at a premium compared with spot closing of 261. Tata Steel October 2016 futures traded at 392.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 391.55. Punjab National Bank October 2016 futures traded at 147.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 146.50.

Vedanta October 2016 futures traded at 188.25, at a premium compared with spot closing of 187.25. Canara Bank October 2016 futures traded at 334.30, at a premium compared with spot closing of 332.50.

The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016. The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016.
