Turnover on NSE's F&O segment rises

Nifty December 2016 futures at small premium

The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8,136.55, a small premium of 34.50 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,102.05 in the cash market. The January 2017 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,167, a premium of 64.95 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 3.45 lakh crore from Rs 1.93 lakh crore registered on Tuesday, 6 December 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index shed 41.10 points or 0.5% to settle at 8,102.05, its lowest closing level since 2 December 2016.

State Bank of India (SBI), Yes Bank, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Vedanta, and ICICI Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI December 2016 futures traded at 256.75, at a premium over spot closing of 256.35. Yes Bank December 2016 futures traded at 1,191.25, at a premium over spot closing of 1,185.95. Sun Pharma December 2016 futures traded at 663, at a discount over spot closing of 664.40.

Vedanta December 2016 futures traded at 232.70, unchanged compared with spot closing of 232.70. ICICI Bank December 2016 futures traded at 260.15, at a premium over spot closing of 260.

The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
