Volumes jump at NTPC counter

Jai Corp, Sun TV Network, Escorts and Bhushan Steel are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 3 October 2013.

NTPC clocked volume of 38.42 lakh shares by 13:37 IST on BSE, a 18.55-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 2.07 lakh shares. The stock lost 0.07% at Rs 143.85.

Jai Corp notched up volume of 15 lakh shares, a 9.08-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.65 lakh shares. The stock spurted 15.95% at Rs 48.70.

Sun TV Network saw volume of 3.21 lakh shares, a 5.66-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 57,000 shares. The stock rose 2.74% to Rs 414.60.

Escorts saw volume of 7.86 lakh shares, a 4.05-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.94 lakh shares. The stock rose 0.63% to Rs 88 fter the company said its total tractor sales rose 32.7% to 6,465 units in September 2013 over September 2012. The company announced the sales numbers during trading hours today, 3 October 2013.

Escorts Agri Machinery (EAM)'s domestic tractor sales rose 33.5% to 6,397 units in September 2013 over September 2012. Exports declined 12.8% to 68 units in September 2013 over September 2012.

Bhushan Steel saw volume of 2.04 lakh shares, a 2.79-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 73,000 shares. The stock rose 0.05% at Rs 480.
