We are committed to Doubling farmers' income by 2022: FM

The Budget focuses on agriculture to make farming competitive by laying down a 16 point charter, said the Finance Minister. We are committed to Doubling farmers' income by 2022, the FM stated. Rs 2.83 lakh crore allocated for agriculture sector. Comprehensive measures for 100 water-stressed districts, being proposed in Budget 2020. Agricultural credit target has been set at ₹15 lakh crore. Meanwhile, Indian Railways will set up Kisan Rail through PPP arrangement, for transportation of perishable goods. Krishi Udaan also be launched by Civil Aviation Ministry to transport agri-products to national as well international destinations. "We will encourage balanced use of all fertilizers, a necessary step to change the incentive regime which encourages excessive use of chemical fertilizers," FM stated.
