Wipro gains ahead of its inclusion in Nifty

Wipro rose 2.51% to Rs 487.60 at 11:46 IST on BSE ahead of the stock's inclusion in the 50-unit CNX Nifty with effect from tomorrow, 27 September 2013.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 63.86 points or 0.32% at 19,920.10.

On BSE, 1.54 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 2.10 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 489.30 and a low of Rs 473 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 501 on 3 September 2013. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 315.30 on 31 May 2013.

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 25 September 2013, jumping 6.08% compared with the Sensex's 7.22% rise. The scrip had, however, outperformed the market in past one quarter, surging 38.19% as against Sensex's 6.59% rise.

The large-cap company has equity capital of Rs 492.98 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.

Wipro replaces Reliance Infrastructure in Nifty.

Wipro's consolidated net profit declined 6% to Rs 1623.30 crore on 1% growth in income from operations to Rs 9733.20 crore in Q1 June 2013 over Q4 March 2013.
