Ten people were killed in a car explosion at the entrance of a busy restaurant in Somalia's capital Mogadishu while scores of others were injured, police said.
Police officer Mahad Mohamed told Xinhua news agency at the scene that the car exploded at the entrance of a busy restaurant, which is barely 50 metres away from the Central Hotel which was the scene of another deadly attack in February which killed at least 20 people.
"The car exploded at the entrance after the driver tried to force entry. We have since established that 10 people were killed and scores of others injured," said the officer.
The explosion came a day after an attack at a UN vehicle in the country's semi-autonomous region of Puntland that left least nine people dead.
