A total of 105 villages in nine states got electricity connections during the week ending on April 10, taking to 7,233 the total for 2015-16, an official statement said on Monday.
The power ministry said the electrification took place under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna.
"Of these electrified villages, nine are in Odisha, seven in Jharkhand, eight in Arunachal Pradesh, 10 in Bihar, 38 in Assam, four in Chhattisgarh, six in Madhya Pradesh, nine in Rajasthan and 14 in Uttar Pradesh," the statement said.
These villages are part of the 18,452 villages which are scheduled to be electrified by May 1, 2018, it said.
"Out of the remaining 10,778 villages, 7,266 villages are to be electrified through grid, 3,074 villages through off-grid, where grid solutions are out of reach due to geographical barriers, and 438 villages are to be electrified by state governments," the statement added.
