Kolkata Police have suspended 12 of their personnel for "indisciplined conduct" after they refused to undertake poll-related duties during the ongoing West Bengal panchayat elections, a senior officer said Thursday.

"We have suspended 12 constables for indisciplined conduct. They had refused to undertake poll related duties for the panchayat polls," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Jawed Shamim.

Personnel from both the city and state police along with central security forces are being used for security measures across the state for the five-phase rural polls which began July 11.
