12th International water expo to be held in Mumbai

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai in collaboration with EA Water Private limited, a leading solution provider in waste water management, will organise the 12th international Water Expo here.

The expo aims to explore the opportunities in water conservation and recycling.

The three-day event named Every thing About Water Expo 2015, that starts May 21, is considered to be South Asia's largest water event for showcasing latest technologies in the water and waste water management sector.

"Over 300 exhibitors from 21 countries would be showcasing advanced technologies and solutions on water management. For the first time ever in India, over 100 international exhibitors would be displaying new products, reflecting the high global interest in the growing Indian market," said a statement from the organisers.

The Indian water market is growing at over eight percent per annum and is likely to reach Rs.82,100 crore in 2015.

The statement added that the fastest growing segments in this sector are drinking water supply, industrial water treatment and waste-water recycling.

"Countries like Canada, Israel, Germany, Italy, United States, China and Belgium are showing high interest in investing in India," said H. Subramaniam, Chief Operating Officer, EA Water Pvt. Ltd in a statement.

He said that globally, major institutions are focusing on investing in water sector and a lot of developed nations are focusing to tie up with India in this sector.

Talking about the expo, he said: "With huge investments in the water sector through the Ganga River Cleaning project, the Smart Cities initiative and the Swachh Bharat campaign, the Indian water sector is at a very crucial junction today."

"With significant investment and employment potential, this sector is likely to grow sizeably in the coming decade," he said and added that investment worth over Rs.40,000 crore and one million jobs are expected in the next three years because of it.
