At least 14 people were killed Wednesday when a truck crashed head-on into a bus in Thailand's Tak province, police and hospital officials said.

The six-wheel truck, loaded with zinc plates, was heading to Muang district, the Bangkok Post reported.

The truck driver claimed he lost control and crashed into the bus after the brakes failed.

A total of 14 people were killed, 11 of them at the scene and three more at a hospital, a spokesman for the Tak provincial hospital said.

Two people were injured, the spokesman added.
