At least 16 people were killed and over 30 injured on Saturday in a suicide attack at a military base in Somalia.
The incident took place in the port city of Kismayo, Xinhua news gency reported.
"The suicide bomber was one of Al-Shabaab fighters before he abandoned the group to join the Somali army one year ago," Somali military commander Muse Ali said.
Witnesses said that Somali forces and African Union troops arrived at the scene and closed all roads to the military site which was attacked by the insurgents.
Al-Shabaab terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
