17 policemen die in Afghanistan NATO attack

At least 17 counter-narcotics policemen were killed by NATO-coalition troops in an air strike in Afghanistan's Helmand province, a senior government official said on Monday.

The police personnel were carrying out a counter-narcotics operation when the incident took place in Sangin district of Helmand province, Tolo news quoted the government official as saying.

In addition, four policemen were also injured.

NATO was yet to comment on the incident.
