Two persons were arrested on Saturday for murdering an elderly man while trying to execute a robbery in his house, police said.
The incident took place on August 5 at New Alipore in South Kolkata, when the victim tried to stop the accused from robbing his house, as they climbed walls and broke open the door.
The two accused, Zakir Mollah and Sooraj Mollah, went missing after the incident but were caught from port town Kulpi in South 24 Parganas district.
"They then opened the cupboard and tried to steal some belongings. When the old man got up from sleep and tried to stop them, they killed him," a police officer said.
"We are looking into the murder and trying to find further evidence," he added.
