Twenty-five Pakistani illegal immigrants were caught in Turkey's Aegean province inside a minibus draped with a Turkish flag, which recently has become a symbol to show solidarity against the July 15 failed coup attempt.

Police teams stopped the minibus during a road check at the entrance of the Izmir highway on Thursday night, Hurriyet Daily News reported on Friday.

The driver of the minibus said the 17-seat minibus belonged to another person, claiming he was told to carry the passengers from Istanbul to Bodrum.

The immigrants have been held for interrogation.
