Sporting legends from Kerala joined hands with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to launch the 30-day countdown of the 35th National Games by lighting a lamp here Thursday evening.
The Games will be held in 30 venues in seven districts Jan 31-Feb 14.
Apart from 'Golden Girl' P.T. Usha who was out of station, the sporting personalities who attended the event included Shiny Wilson, Anju Bobby George, Bobby George M.D. Valsamma, Preeja Sreedharan and Padmini Thomas.
Chandy unveiled the medals to be given to the winners as well as the official uniform of the officials and the volunteers.
As many as 11,000 athletes and 2,500 technical officials will take part in the sporting event.
