Around 60 students were injured when their school bus overturned in Tamil Nadu's Perambalur district on Thursday, police said.
The driver of the bus, carrying students of the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Matriculation Higher Secondary School, lost control of the vehicle and hit a median due to which the bus toppled.
The students were rescued by the public by breaking the window panes. Fortunately, they suffered only minor injuries.
The bus driver was arrested.
Allegations were levelled against the school that the bus was overloaded with around 100 students.
An angry crowd blocked traffic on the road, but police managed to pacify the agitators.
