A total of 637 terrorists have been killed and 710 arrested after the Pakistani authorities launched the National Action Plan (NAP) following the terror attack on an army-run public school in Peshawar on December 16 last year.

The Pakistan Ministry of Interior on Friday informed the Senate about the success of the anti-terror operation.

The Ministry said 373 terrorists were killed in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), 98 in Balochistan, 55 in Punjab, 36 in Sindh, and one each in Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan this year.

On December 16, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants attacked the Army Public School in Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and killed over 150 people, mostly children.

A day later, all political parties of Pakistan united in the fight against terrorism and unanimously approved the National Action Plan.

The Senate was also informed that Al-Qaeda, Balochistan Republican Army, Lashkar-e-Balochistan, Islamic State, Tehreek-e-Jaffaria Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah Muhammad Pakistan, Jaish Muhammad and Sipah Sahaba Pakistan have been included in the list of banned organisations.

Tehreek Nafaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi, Tehreek-e-Islami Pakistan and Shia Talaba Action Committee were also among the 61 banned organisations. Jamaat-ud-Dawa of Hafiz Sayeed has been included in the watch list as well.
