The Aam Aadmi Party in Haryana on Friday alleged a scam in the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) related to an affordable housing scheme in the state.
AAP Haryana media in-charge and RTI wing head Sudhir Yadav said that according to the affordable housing policy, rates are clearly defined. "In Gurugram, a builder can charge a maximum of Rs 4,000 per sq feet. Yet builders are taking additional external development charges (EDC), which vary from Rs 50,000 Rs 1 lakh," he said.
"When a buyer complained at the CM window, the reply was that EDC and other charges are included in the Rs 4,000 charges," Yadav said. "But DTCP has not acted against the builders," he added.
