A CBI court Wednesday rejected the plea of dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar to summon senior journalist Nalini Singh and CBI deputy superintendent Anuj Arya as witnesses in the Aarushi-Hemraj double-murder case.
Defence lawyer Manoj Shishodia said that during arguments in the forenoon the special judge reserved his order and later delivered it at 5 p.m. as rejected.
During arguments, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed the defence plea and submitted that the accused were trying to delay the proceedings under one or other pretext. The court also observed that the defence attempted to delay, hence defence application is rejected.
The CBI judge adjourned the court for Oct 24 to record the defence arguments.
Aarushi, 14, was found murdered at her parents' Noida residence May 16, 2008. Next day, their servant Hemraj's body was found on the house terrace.
