Abandoned ammunition was found at a dock in Mumbai Tuesday triggering panic, but it eventually turned out to be a used rocket used for practice by the navy.
A navy official said Tuesday that the abandoned ammunition was found at Sassoon Dock in Colaba around noon.
It was inspected by a navy team and was classified as an already used practice rocket.
"The rocket is fired in the high seas as per laid down procedures and is completely safe as there is no explosive content left after firing," a navy official said.
The rocket has been since transferred to the Armament Depot for safe-keeping.
"In all likelihood the rocket was snagged in a fishing net at sea," the navy official added.
