Two Afghan brothers have been arrested here on charges of robbing a Delhi shopkeeper of his laptop and over Rs 2 lakh in cash, police said on Tuesday.
Zamil, 48, and Mustafa, 35, were arrested on Monday from Nizamuddin. They are refugees from Afghanistan and had been residing in Delhi for 25 years on UN support.
Shopkeeper Sukhjeet Singh Anand complained that the two met him last week seeking a house on rent, Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal said.
When Zamil and Mustafa left, Anand realized that the money from his counter and his laptop bag had disappeared.
Caught with help of CCTV footage, Zamil and Mustafa disclosed that they had indulged in seven cases of robbery using similar modus operandi, Biswal said.
