The Afghan government on Sunday executed six terrorists who were awarded capital punishment for their involvement in subversive activities, the Presidential Palace said.

"The government implemented court's ruling on six terrorists and executed them," Xinhua news agency quoted a Presidential Palace official as saying.

Anas Haqqani, the son of Haqqani network founder Jalaludin Haqqani, was not among those executed, the official said.

President Ashraf Ghani in his address at the joint session of parliament on April 25 vowed to execute terrorists and root out militancy in Afghanistan.
