Hailing the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) victory in DSGMC elections, party President Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday said it was proof of "complete rejection" of AAP and Congress by the Sikh community.
Voting for the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) was held on February 26.
SAD candidates won 27 of the 33 seats, the results of which were declared till evening. There are 46 seats in the DSGMC.
In a statement here, Badal, also the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, said these elections proved that the Sikh community in Delhi was with the SAD and appreciated its work.
DSGMC President Manjit Singh GK and senior leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa were among the winners.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) President Paramjit Singh Sarna, supported by the Congress, was among the prominent losers. He lost to Sirsa for the Punjabi Bagh seat.
"The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tried its best to prop up its own organisation and formed the Panthic Sewa Dal to put up candidates. They even levelled allegations against the SAD. However, the results show that the Delhi Sikh electorate is completely disillusioned with the AAP and its performance," Badal said.
