The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lashed out at Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday for not acting against Transport Minister Gayatri Prajapati, against whom the Supreme Court has ordered filing of an FIR in a rape case.
Party's General Secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak told reporters that on one hand, the Chief Minister was going around campaigning talking of his honesty and clean image and on the other, he not only campaigned against a tainted minister but was also retaining him in the cabinet despite a rap from the apex court.
"Akhilesh Yadav cut a sorry figure in the light of latest judicial knocking punch, though there have been many in the past where judiciary was forced to intervene on behalf of the people -- be it dengue outbreak or the fraudulent appointment by the state public service commission chief," the BJP leader said.
