Protestors opposing the central government's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh Friday targeted properties of state Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana and his relatives in the state's Vijayanagaram town, police said.

Tension prevailed in the town Friday night as protestors, who continued sit-in for more than 12 hours, set afire office of Satya Cable Network owned by Satyanarayana, who is also a state minister. They also pelted stones on fire engines which rushed to the scene to douse the fire.

The mob also damaged the vehicle of superintendent of police, who had reached there to take stock of the situation.

Alleging that Satyanarayana did not stall the central government's decision, the protestors also attacked house of a relative of Satyanarayana and a school owned by another family member.

Earlier in the day, the protestors also targeted a college and a lodge owned by Satyanarayana. They also laid siege to his residence and clashed with police.

Police fired teargas shells to disperse the mob, which damaged five police vehicles. Three protestors and a policeman were injured in the violence.
