Anil Wadhwa new Secretary-East

Anil Wadhwa, who was until recently the Indian ambassador to Thailand, has taken over as secretary (east) in the ministry of external affairs.

Wadhwa, an Indian Foreign Service Officer of the 1979 batch, assumed office from Jan 6, an official statement said Thursday.

Wadhwa had served as Indian ambassador to the Thailand from November 2011 to January 2014. He has earlier served as ambassador to Poland (March 2004 to August 2007) and to Oman (August 2007 to September 2011), the statement said.
