Terming the anti-communalism convention organised by the Left parties in New Delhi a "doosra", CPI-M politburo member Sitaram Yechury Friday said it would send communal forces "to the pavilion".
"Just as the 'doosra' is bowled to send a batsman back to the pavilion, the convention is a 'doosra' to send the communal forces to the pavilion," Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member Yechury told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.
He said the convention was not aimed at forging any "Third or Fourth Front". "It was not aimed at any votebank politics".
Earlier, he said all parties which have broken off with the BJP were called for the convention.
However, the Trinamool Congress was not invited, as "we did not want to invite those who are in double minds on whether to go with the BJP or not," he said.
