Army pays tribute to soldier killed on LoC

The Army on Monday paid tribute to the soldier killed in Pakistan firing on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir' s Sunderbani sector.

Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand said in a statement today: "Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing on own post in Sunderbani Sector on the LoC today. In the incident, Rifleman Karamjeet Singh was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries."

Rifleman Karamjeet Singh, 24, belonged to village Janer, Tehsil Dharamkot, District Moga in Punjab. He is survived by his parents.

"Rifleman Karamjeet Singh was a brave and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty.

"GOC and all ranks of Crossed Swords Division salute the braveheart and offer deepest condolences to his family," the spokesman said.
