Five legislators of the ruling Congress in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Nabam Tuki of causing serious political instability and chaotic governance in the state.
The five legislators issued a joint statement on Tuesday against the chief minister, just a week after Arunachal Pradesh tourism minister Pema Khandu resigned accusing the chief minister of failing to live up to the expectations of the people.
On Monday, Congress legislator and Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology chairman Gabriel D. Wangsu resigned from his post saying "it has been practically impossible to render any meaningful service to the people of the state under his (Tuki's) leadership".
The five Congress legislators -- Chowna Mein, Wanglin Lowangdong, Kumar Waii, Kamlung Mosang and Thangwang Wangham -- said the Tuki government has lost the support of the people as it failed on all fronts.
"Sensing the desperation of the people and the government's eroding image, we as senior legislators of the state advised Chief Minister Nabam Tuki to bring in much-required measures to ensure adequate delivery of services by the government to its people.
"However, instead of upholding our endeavours for better and more effective people-oriented governance, Tuki labelled us as dissidents and dropped us from the ministry on the lame pretext of being non-performing ministers," said the statement signed by the five.
"Sadly enough, the excuse drawn by the chief minister for sacking us from the ministerial posts as 'non-performing ministers' was just an eyewash to damage our image in the public domain which is unfortunate," they said.
