Spain's Real Sociedad on Wednesday announced that it has parted company with its first team's head coach Asier Garitano as well as his staff member Miguel Perez.
Sociedad currently lies in the 15th spot in the La Liga standings with 19 points, having collected eight defeats and four ties, in addition to five wins, reports Efe.
"Real Sociedad has made the decision to terminate Asier Garitano's contract as the first team's coach," the club said in a statement. "Miguel Perez, member of the first team's coaching staff, also ceases to belong to the club."
La Real thanked both Garitano and Perez for their work and dedication, wishing them luck in the future.
In another statement, the La Liga side announced that its team B manager, Imanol Alguacil, will be replacing Garitano until the end of the 2018-2019 season.
The club added that Alguacil, who played for the Whites and Blues during seven seasons, was appointed as caretaker manager during the last nine matches of the previous campaign, with a record of "16 points, five wins, one draw and three defeats."
Real Sociedad is set to resume the La Liga with a match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid on January 6.
