Assam Chief Minister's son Gourav Gogoi Wednesday filed his nomination papers to contest the Lok Sabha election from Kaliabor near Tezpur.
Gourav Gogoi was accompanied by his wife Elizabeth, mother Dolly Gogoi and senior cabinet colleagues of the chief minister besides a large number of supporters when he went to the returning officer's office.
A debutant in politics, Gourav Gogoi is a Master in Public Administration from the Rober F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service under the New York University.
In his affidavit submitted to the returning officer, he put his income in 2012-13 at Rs.358,680.
His wife Elizabeth Clare Gogoi, a British citizen by birth, put her income for the year at Rs.19,60,000.
The gross value of movable or immovable assets owned by Gourav Gogoi was stated to be Rs.18,09,686.
This includes Rs.71,400 in cash and deposits in banks.
His wife owns assets worth Rs.36,63,513 which includes deposits in banks and jewellery.
The couple, who got married in October last year, has no vehicle in their names.
"It really feels good to accompany him till here. Gourav always thinks of Kaliabor and I hope he will do well to bring in development to Kaliabor," Elizabeth told journalists.
