Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has called on Goans to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly manner.

In his Diwali eve message, issued Friday, Parrikar appealed to the people to "avoid noise and air pollution and celebrate Diwali in its true spirit".

"Diwali is one of the most beautiful and endearing festivals celebrated by the people across religious lines. The festival of lights signifies the victory of knowledge and virtue over evil and ignorance," he added.
