Crossing swords with the Uttar Pradesh government, the Bajrang Dal Tuesday said the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) proposed 'Sankalp Sabha' would be held at 500 places across the state Oct 18 despite the ban.
Bajrang Dal's Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh units convenor Surendra Mishra told reporters here that like the '84 Kosi Yatra' and the 'Panch Kosi Yatra' were carried out despite bans, the Sankalp Sabha would also go ahead unhindered.
Daring the state government, the Bajrang Dal leader said that the ban on the Sankalp Sabha should be lifted immediately or the government be prepared for dire consequences.
VHP's regional organization secretary Ras Bihari claimed that the ban clamped on the event was against the spirit of the Indian constitution and an attack on rights of Hindus.
The state government had Monday banned the proposed event in Ayodhya.
