Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the death of erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Balraj Madhok, saying he was "selflessly devoted to the nation and society".
Describing him as one whose "ideological commitment was strong and clarity of thought immense", Modi said he had the good fortune of interacting with him on many occasions. "His demise is saddening."
Born on February 25, 1920, Madhok was with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and a former president of the Jana Sangh. He died here early on Monday at age 96.
