At least 30 top executives from the country's nationalised banks underwent a leadership programme conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK), an official said Wednesday.
The workshop that ended Wednesday was led by Debashis Chatterjee, director, IIMK, and his colleagues.
The objective of the leadership clinic was not to teach banking to the veterans but enabling them with alternative dimensions of leadership and how these leadership qualities can be put to better use.
"This workshop assumes immense significance in view of the crisis faced by the banking industry in India and the rest of the world. Our aspiration through this workshop was to sensitise the captains of the banking industry about the role of human values and professional ethics in the financial service sector," said the director.
Usha Ananthasubramaniam, executive director, Punjab National Bank, said the programme has come with a lot of values and has helped in successfully demystifying some of the myths.
"Deeper concepts like values and ethics, conflicts management have been dealt in a manner that is etched as permanent learning to follow," said the lady banker.
Ashok Kumar Gupta, executive director, Canara Bank, pointed out that he has really learnt number of practical ideas about the operational issues and how to move ahead with a congenial atmosphere.
The workshop was attended by leading lights from Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Syndicate Bank, UCO Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, Andhra Bank and Vijaya Bank.
