Barcelona on Saturday will deliver a gold shield to legendary Enrique Castro, known as Quini, in recognition of his playing career, his loyalty to the Catalan football club and his permanent emotional bond with the fans.
This tribute will be held before the game against Sporting Gijon at Camp Nou on Saturday in week 35 of La Liga, reports Efe.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu will give the shield and the former player will greet the fans.
Quini, 66, was a legendary striker for Sporting Gijon and in the early eighties signed for Barcelona, where he spent four years.
One of the most painful episodes in the life of the Barcelona player was away from the soccer field, when 35 years ago he was abducted at gun point by a group who wanted to prevent Barcelona from achieving the La Liga title.
