Bava, Mehta enter national ranking tennis quarters

Qualifiers Haadin Bava and Digvijay Singh Mehta scored impressive wins to storm into the quarterfinals of the All-India Ranking Men's Tennis Tournament at the Solaris Club here Tuesday.

Also making it to the last eight stage were top seed Abdullah Shaikh of Andhra Pradesh, No.3 seed Nitten Kirrtane, Shahbaaz Khan of Maharashtra.

Maharashtra player Bava downed No.6 seed Rahul Manoah of Tamil Nadu 6-1, 6-3. Bava controlled the match and gave no opportunity to Manoah. He now meets Kirrtane in the quarter-finals.

Kirrtane beat Siddharth Sarthank 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

Another qualifier Digvijay Singh Mehta of Himachal Pradesh, scored 6-4, 6-4 win over fourth seed Siddharth Vishwakarma of Uttar Pradesh.

Mehta now meets Shahbaaz Khan of Maharashtra who registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Vilasier Khate of Haryana.

Vibhav (Kar) 6-3, 6-4.
