West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday condoled the death of Singapore's first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.
"Saddened to hear about death of Lee Kuan Yew. Last year during my visit to Singapore, I had announced setting up a chair named after him at Calcutta University," Banerjee tweeted.
Led by Banerjee and Finance Minister Amit Mitra, a delegation comprising a host of bureaucrats and entrepreneurs embarked on a five-day visit to Singapore in August last year hunting for investments for West Bengal.
Lee died on Monday at a Singapore hospital. He was 91.
