The dengue toll in West Bengal shot up to 23 on Thursday, with a woman succumbing to the virus-borne disease.
The woman, a resident of South Parganas district and a confirmed dengue patient, passed away at a private hospital during the day.
State Director of Health Services B.R. Satpathy said 510 fresh cases of dengue were reported since Wednesday evening, taking the total number of infected persons this year to 5,639.
