In what is being described as a "courtesy call", Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here and discussed issues regarding his state.

A Prime Minister's Office (PMO) official told IANS that it was just a "courtesy call" and the two leaders met for a while.

This was the first time that the two leaders met each other after Modi became the prime minister.

Modi's elevation in the BJP had prompted Nitish Kumar to pull his Janata Dal-United out of the NDA in 2013 after being part of the alliance for 17 years.
