Delighted over Bihar recording 17.5% GDP growth in 2014-15, JD(U) and RJD leaders said on Friday that this exposed the BJP's campaign that the state's economy was in a poor shape.

"Bihar has emerged as the fastest growing state in the country. It has left behind others including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan," Janata Dal (United) leader Neeraj Kumar said.

He was commenting on the findings of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Ayog.

According to the latest NITI Aayog report, Bihar's growth rate of 17.6% was in terms of gross state domestic product (GSDP).

It was followed by Madhya Pradesh at 16.86%, Maharashtra at 11.69% and Goa at 16.43%.

Neeraj Kumar said: "It is for BJP leaders including (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi and (BJP president) Amit Shah to take their words back on Bihar's development.

"This is a success story," he said, adding the state had recorded an average of 10% growth rate in the last 10 years.

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Ram Chandra Purve said Bihar had become the fastest growing state.
