A Maoist-turned gangster wanted in dozens of criminal cases was arrested by a Bihar Police team from Kolkata, police said Thursday.
Santosh Jha - wanted in cases including for murder, kidnapping, extortion and landmine explosion - was arrested from Kolkata late Wednesday and would be brought here Thursday night, an official said.
Jha, a resident of Bihar's Sheohar district, raised the private army Parshuram Sena and targeted road contractors in Bihar and businessmen in Nepal, police said.
The sena worked under the pretended identity of People's Liberation Army in Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Sheohar and Vaishali districts.
Santosh's name figured in the killing of a former Maoist leader Gaurishankar Jha (55) in Sheohar district Nov 24, 2011.
