Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Wednesday said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Vinod Kumar Binny had sought a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls, but the latter denied it and refuted the chief minister.
"Binny had come to meet me at my residence and demanded either a berth in the Delhi cabinet or a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls," Kejriwal told reporters.
"He was told that as per the party policy, tickets cannot be given to sitting MLAs (legislators)," he said.
However, Binny told IANS: "I had never gone to ask either a berth (in the Delhi cabinet) or a ticket for the Lok Sabha polls. Whatever Arvind Kejriwal is saying is baseless."
Kejriwal also said that Binny, who defeated Congress heavyweight A.K. Walia in the December assembly elections, was even asked if he had any grievances at a party meet Tuesday, but refused to speak.
Binny, in an interview, said that AAP had deviated from its path and was not able to fulfil its promises to the public.
Earlier Wednesday, on being questioned whether he was speaking after being aggrieved over not being made a cabinet minister, the AAP legislator reiterated that he was not upset with the decision.
