After the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur called Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, a "deshbhakt" (patriot), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused the BJP of "destroying the country beyond repair".
In a statement, the AAP said the entire country was in a state of shock at the latest statement of terror accused Thakur praising Godse.
"Who could have ever imagined that Indians would ever hear Godse being praised by a mainstream political party and that too India's ruling party," AAP said.
Stating that the BJP is destroying the country beyond repair, the AAP said, "All democratic-minded countrymen need to understand this danger before it's too late."
The AAP condemned Thakur's statement and questioned as to why the BJP was "not expelling her from the party".
