The BJP in Goa has filed a complaint against paid news with the poll authorities here.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer Keshav Chandra Tuesday has alleged that a local English daily has been campaigning for Congress candidate Aleixo Reginaldo who will be contesting the South Goa seat.
The complaint claims that the newspaper, the largest selling daily in the state, is projecting the Congress candidate by using quotes from Congress workers camouflaged as citizens and has been constantly backing him through compromised news articles.
"We have sent the complaint to the district magistrate South Goa. Action will be taken within 48 hours," a senior official said.
BJP vice president Wilfred Mesquita confirmed the complaint.
"The complaint has been filed by the party with the election officials," Misquita said.
